Because we are made in the image of an all-knowing God, we have the capability of advanced learning and the ability to grow in knowledge and intelligence. This shows that education is only possible because the Christian worldview is correct. Others often borrow education from a biblical worldview but then deviate and lose the very foundation for education. Thus, the philosophy of a biblical-worldview education is rooted in the conviction that God is the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient Creator. All things exist by the Word of His power and are sustained by Him (Colossians 1:17). We cannot make sense of the universe without God!
A biblical-worldview education is predicated on the revealed Word of Christ (John 1; Colossians 1; Hebrews 1). An education that fails to acknowledge God and His work is resting on the fallible authority of man, which is ultimately meaningless. All the treasures of knowledge and wisdom are hidden in Christ (Colossians 2:3).
An education that stands on the authority of the 66 books of the Bible as the absolute standard recognizes the student as having been made in the image of God and having eternal value. Partnering with parents, Answers Academy philosophy is to help train students in the admonition of the Lord by teaching them that the Bible is authoritative in all matters. In doing so, we hope to give glory to God as we teach students to start their thinking with God’s Word in every academic subject. By teaching students to seek first the kingdom of God, their works should be as unto the Lord and not to man.
Partnering with the Family
Ephesians 6:4 states, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 states, "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."
These verses show that it is the responsibility of the parents to seek to provide a God-centered and Christ-honoring education for their children. Our school exists to assist parents in providing this type of education. We see ourselves as an extension of parents to provide an education in agreement with our statement of faith. We count it a privilege to be able to partner with parents to train kids both academically and spiritually during the time that we have them. Because the responsibility for educating children is given to the parents, Answers Academy will be an instrument to assist dedicated parents in teaching their students biblically, academically, morally, spiritually, and relationally.
It is not the school's place to be the primary training center for these children though. The school is to never take the place of home teaching and training. Children need the instruction and example by parents in the home as a foundation on which the school and church may build upon.
The family, church, and school should all have the same goal..."until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ" (Ephesians 4:13-15).
