Career Development

God has given every person unique talents and abilities. We have a heart to mentor and engage with students to help them as they navigate growing up and determining which career path to choose. This doesn’t just happen in high school, but actually starts as soon as they enter school in kindergarten. Over the coure of their time at Answers Academy, we are able to help grow and nurture their talents and abilities by aligning academics, sports, clubs, and internships around their strengths and passions so they can use these abilities for the Lord.

Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment gives high school students an opportunity to complete courses for high school and college credit simultaneously. There are many factors to consider to determine if dual enrollment is best for your child. Our staff will be working with each student as they plan the best path for their career choice. Before taking any dual credit classes, it is strongly advised that each student check with their college to see if they will accept the college credit. We partner with Maranatha Baptist University for our dual enrollment courses.

taking the ACT or SAT

which one?

If a student is interested in pursuing further education after graduating from Answers Academy, it is highly recommended for students to take either the ACT or SAT depending on their career choice. The student should also contact their college of choice and ask for their recommendation on what test to take based on their major. Generally speaking, the ACT is geared for science/math majors whereas the SAT is geared more for English majors. Do your homework on the differences and it’s always a great idea to do a sample test of both to see which one you do better on. HERE is an article that compares the two tests.

Dates/Location

Answers Academy recommendations:

  • Seniors: take the test in the fall (around October)

  • Juniors: take the test in the spring (around April)

  • Sophomores: take the test in the spring (around April)

There are local locations that offer these tests on specific dates, typically Saturdays. Check out the two websites below to find a testing location and test date that is convenient for you.

Test Prep

“Test Prep” is a huge part of taking the ACT/SAT. Students can prep independently through a variety of free online tests and programs. You can also purchase test prep books at books stores or online. There are also learning centers such as Huntington or Sylvan that have services you can pay for to help with test prep.
